Reduce Waste

Make sure you segregate everyday waste into wet and dry waste

Avoid buying packaged water bottles; carry your own water bottles
Use steel utensils while travelling, to avoid thermocol, plastic and Styrofoam
Quit tissue papers for everyday use. Use cloth napkins instead
Opt for cold drinks in glass bottles instead of plastic ones
Instead of throwing, donate old clothes and household items
Carry your own cloth bag for shopping or reuse plastic bags
Avoid littering; carry a small bag for trash outdoors

Save Water

Use bucket instead of shower for bathing; it can save 150-200 litres everyday

Avoid using RO water purifiers; and if using, make sure the waste water is used for other activities
Fix all the leakages in your house
Use treated water to clean vehicles, and use it in minimum possible quantities
Avoid using washing machine if not filled to its full capacity
Don’t keep the tap running while brushing or shaving

Clean Air

Reduce Air Pollution

Make sure your vehicle is well-serviced and PUC certified
Optimize vehicle usage; use public transport, carpool or sharing cabs, whenever possible
Plant trees and encourage others for the same
Don’t smoke and don’t let others smoke in public places
Don’t burn domestic garbage. Dispose it properly, so that it can be recycled and treated.
Reusing and recycling paper can save cutting of thousands of trees
CFLs can save electricity, and since electricity is generated from thermal energy, using CFLs can reduce air pollution from coal burning
Use solar cookers and encourage others for the same
Participate in community initiatives like tree plantation drives, energy saving campaigns, etc.
Use electricity wisely; turn off the electronics that are not in use
